1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Starting June 2019

We are building a strong dynamic team who are delivering educational excellence, embedded in Christian values, to the children of central Watford.  St John’s C of E Primary School opened in September 2016 and in September 2018 we moved to our permanent home, which is a brand new building on Clarendon Road.  We are thriving and from September 2019 the school will comprise two forms in each of Reception and Year One and one form in each of Years Two and Three.

This role commences from 3rd June 2019 with full-time hours available for 7 weeks. From September 2019 the role will be part-time for 5 mornings per week. 

This is a temporary post linked to a specific child however  as an expanding school we have a yearly cycle of recruitment.

Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) (H4) –

Starting September 2019

We have two positions; one based in Year 1 and the other working mainly with Year 3.

Are you a highly effective qualified Higher Level Teaching assistant (HLTA)? Or, someone with the necessary skills and prepared to undertake the training with us to become qualified?  Are you determined to make a difference to children’s lives?

We are building a strong dynamic team who are delivering educational excellence, embedded in Christian values, to the children of central Watford.  St John’s C of E Primary School opened in September 2016 and in September 2018 we moved to our permanent home, which is a brand new building on Clarendon Road.  We are thriving and from September 2019 the school will comprise two forms in each of Reception and Year One and one form in each of Years Two and Three.

Our school vision and ethos means that you could be part of something very special in the heart of Watford.  All our staff work in partnership to support the best outcomes for children and this involves a flexible approach.

The roles will involve working with class teachers to support learning in class as well as leading intervention groups.  In addition, you will be teaching in class to release teachers for planning, preparation and assessment (PPA), to cover short-term illness or to attend meetings.  Therefore, experience of teaching a large group of children is essential.

There are two HLTA vacancies.  The role based in Year 1 will be mainly supporting the teacher in class and will also provide PPA cover within Year 1.  The role based in Year 3 will be approximately 70% supporting the Year 3 teacher and the remainder of the role will provide PPA cover across lower year groups.  Please note that all HLTAs within the school may be asked to cover staff absence within any age group according to the school’s needs.

Each role will be 30 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm, 38 weeks term time + 2 INSET days (192 days in total).  The salary will be approximately £13k per annum.

Teaching Assistants (TA)

This position will be working within Key Stage 1 and will start in September 2019.

The role will involve working with class teachers to support learning in class as well as leading intervention groups.

35 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 8:15am – 4:15, 38 weeks term time + 2 INSET days (192 days in total).
