Visit from Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire
6 Aug 2023The Class of 2023 gathered with families on 20th July 2023 for a special celebratory Collective Worship at St John’s Church. The Class of 2023 were the first Year 6 class at St John’s C of E Primary School, had grown with the school and their departure was a milestone in our school history.
The Collective Worship was an opportunity for St John’s C of E Primary School pupils, families, staff, governors and community to reflect on the school’s journey and celebrate the Class of 2023.
We are grateful that Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire was able to attend and we are thankful for his kind words as he wished the children all the very best for the future.

6 Aug 2023Mayor Peter Taylor visited our Class of 2023 on 20th July 2023. He spoke to the children about their St John’s C of E Primary School journey, their thoughts as they prepare for their next chapter at Secondary School and their plans for the future.
There was also a Q&A session and the children each had an opportunity to ask Mayor Peter Taylor questions.

6 Aug 2023We hosted our first ever Year 6 Leavers’ Disco on 13th July 2023. The children had a wonderful time celebrating their last weeks at St John’s Church of England Primary School. Thank you to our PTA, The Friends of St John’s for sponsoring the cost of the DJ.
Thank you to all the volunteers, both St John’s C of E Primary School staff and families who helped set up the hall, to our Year 6 mum who provided two incredible balloon arches, please visit her Instagram page (@say.events). Thank you very much to Year 3 mum for the most amazing celebration cake. Thank you to the Year 6 mums who made a wonderful banner and a fantastic selfie frame.
We are thankful to all of the members of the school community who volunteered to help with the event, we truly appreciated all of the support. We could not have done it without you. The children had a fantastic time.

23 Jun 2023The Key Stage Two children, staff and families enjoyed the KS2 Sports Day today. We are thankful to West Herts Social Club for allowing us to use their space. The children took part in a variety of events and joined their families for a picnic afterwards. Congratulations to the yellow team for winning first place. All of the children did their best and had fun toghether.

23 Jun 2023Father David will be leaving St John’s to begin his new role at St James’ in Bushey. We will be very sad to be saying “Goodbye” to him, he is the reason that our school was created and he has always been a supportive and nurturing member of our school community.
Father David will be leading his final service as Vicar at St John’s Church on Sunday 25th June 2023. The school community are welcome to attend and wish Father David all the very best as he moves from Watford to Bushey. In school, there will also be a special Collective Worship for the children so they can say goodbye to him.

23 Jun 2023Our friend, Lee from Skip-Hop was in school this week. The children practised their skipping skills and learnt new skipping techniques. Lee has been a part of our school community for a number of years and the children always enjoy his workshops.

20 May 2023Can you help us to create a small St John’s School Community Garden?
We would love to make the space outside of the entrance to our school look brighter, warmer and more welcoming. It would be wonderful to make use of two small flower beds to plant a tree, flowers or plants.
Volunteers are welcome to support this community project and work together to create a beautiful space.

20 May 2023Our first Year 6 residential took place earlier this week. The classroom was full of excited voices as the children waited to board the coach. They returned three days later, tired but happy. They had a fantastic time camping, climbing, learning about the great outdoors and spending time around a camp fire.
Thank you to our Headteacher, Miss Pyatt, our Year 6 Class Teacher, Mr Handley and our Key Stage One Lead, Miss Repova who accompanied the children.

3 May 2023All children and staff are welcome to wear red, white and blue or a homemade crown to school on Tuesday 9th May 2023 to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. There will also be a parade at the end of the day to celebrate this historical event.
