Our School, our community- Watford Centre for the Blind

Watford Centre for the Blind is one of our neighbours who we have a special connection with. Our children enjoy visiting the centre, talking to the members and sharing stories. The members enjoy the children’s visits and the room is always full of smiles and joy.

Summer Fair, Saturday 13th July 2024

Our PTA, The Friends of St John’s C of E Primary School have been working behind the scenes planning our first Summer Fair since the end of Covid related restrictions. We are very excited about being open our outside space  and sharing this fun filled day with the local community. Please contact our PTA if you are interested in volunteering, booking a stall or would like more information about our Summer Fair.

People who help us

Thank you to Watford Police for visiting our Reception children to talk about the different types of people who help us. The children learnt that Police look after the local community and help to keep us safe. There was also a chance to see the inside of Police car and wear a Police uniform.

St John’s C of E Primary School Netball Team

We are very proud of our netball team. Their hard work and dedication has resulted in two wins at recent local school netball tournaments. Thank you very much to our Year 5 Class Teachers who have committed their time to creating and developing our school netball team.

Mr Soul ran the TCS London Marathon

Congratulations to Mr Soul, one of our Year 4 Class Teachers, who ran the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 21st April 2024. Mr Soul was fundraising for Anaphylaxis UK, a charity which supports adults and children living with severe allergies. Well Done Mr Soul.

Celebrating World Book Day 2024

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day 2024. Our children and staff came to school in their pjs and comfortable clothing. The children read to one another, shared their favourite books and photos of their favourite places to read.

Year 5 Cornet Concert

Our Year 5 children have been learning to play the cornet and had the wonderful opportunity to share their musical skills by performing at an event hosted by Watford School of Music. Well done Year 5

St John’s C of E Primary School Disco, Years 2 & 3

St John’s C of E Primary School life is about developing the whole child. An important part of that development is creating opportunities for all of the children to make happy long lasting memories. The St John’s C of E Primary School Discos are fun filled events with entertainment provided by popular children’s entertainer, Mr Marvel

Yesterday, Year 2 and 3 came dressed in their favourite party clothing and sang, danced and laughed with their classmate and school friends.

A huge thank you to Mr Marvel, our PTA, The Friends of St John’s, our school staff, volunteers and everyone who worked together to make this event possible, your help was greatly appreciated.

St John’s C of E Primary School Parent Governor vacancy

There is an amazing opportunity to become a Parent Governor and we are inviting all current St John’s C of E Primary School to parents and carers to let us know if this is something that they would be interested in.

Being a School Governor is a voluntary role which involves attending Governors meetings and helping to make important decisions about how our school is run.

St John’s Community Choir starting 28th February 2024. Everyone is welcome.

Singing is a form of celebration, an expression of joy and a way to come together as a group to create something wonderful.

We are very excited to announce the launch of the St John’s Community Adult Choir, the choir will meet on the last Wednesday of every month, 7-8pm in the St John’s C of E Primary School hall.

There will be a voluntary donation of £3 per session.Come along, meet new people and let’s add to the feeling of joy in our school hall
