World Book Day, 2nd March 2023

All St John’s C of E Primary School children and staff are welcome to dress up as a book character, for example Percy Jackson, Matilda or Harriet the Spy. It’s exciting way for children to engage with their favourite books. There are lots of ways to create a costume which don’t require lots of time or  spending lots of money.

Teach in Herts Recruitment Fair, 4th March 2023

Celebrating our first Year Six Leavers

Love Thy Neighbour

The value of the month is Love. Being based on Clarendon Road means that we have the opportunity to connect with local businesses and form long lasting relationships. We have been very lucky to have received support from a number of organisations who have sponsored events, donated items or volunteered to support projects.

Our lovely neighbours next door at British Steel Pension Fund kindly donated ten office chairs, three desks and a storage cabinet to our school. We are thankful for their generosity, the kind donations have made a huge difference to the school office and classrooms.

OU Farshore Storytime Project

We are taking part in the Open University  Farshore Storytime Project, this involves the Class Teachers reading a book to the children for 20 minutes per day purely for enjoyment.

We are lucky enough to be one of only twenty schools selected to take part in this project and have been gifted 200 brand new books for our school library.

The Director of Public Health at Hertfordshire County Council has issued guidance for families regarding Scarlet Fever and Group A Streptococcus (GAS) also known as Strep A.

Collecting Personalised Christmas Gifts orders

The personalised Christmas mug orders are ready for collection for our PTA, The Friends of St John’s C of E Primary School.

Volunteers from The Friends will be available outside school with the mug orders after school during the last week of term . Please contact The Friends directly via email fofstjs@gmail.com for more details.

St John’s School Snowflakes

The children have been working hard to create their own snowflake designs. The snowflakes have been collected by the Class Teachers and have been used to decorate the school. The building looks wonderfully festive.

McGingley Christmas Cards Competition

The Year 5 children have designed their own Christmas Cards. Our friends and neighbours, McGingley will choose one of the designs on their Christmas cards this year.

Spotty Dotty Day for Children in Need, Friday 18th November 2022

BBC’s Children in Need is taking place on Friday 18th November 2022.
