Applications for a place in Reception for September 2021 close on Friday 15th January. There’s still time to ask any final questions by sending an email to Please make sure that you have submitted your application form online through the Hertfordshire County Council portal and, if you are applying under the Children of the Christian Faith category, that you have also returned your SIF form direct to the school.

The Trim Trail!

Over the Christmas holidays we had a trim trail installed on the downstairs playground. How lucky are we? Thank you to the Friends of St John’s, Miss Pyatt, Mr Langeveld and Made to Play. But also thank you to our parents for supporting the Friends of St John’s to make this possible. Children at school will benefit from this fabulous equipment for a long time to come.

Crazy Hair and Socks Friday!

To raise money for Children in Need and the Friends of St John’s, the children celebrated with a ‘Funky Hair and Sock Day’.

It made for a very smiley and fun start to a Friday morning. It was lovely to see how bright and cheerful everyone was and we are very thankful for your kind and generous donations.

Our monthly value for this month of November is Courage. This week, the whole school is engaged in learning about and being respectful of all of those who gave their lives for our freedom.

The Remembrance wall display is a work in progress which will be completed very soon, we look forward to sharing it with you.

In Collective Worship, Father David taught us about courage and faith by retelling the story of Daniel and the lion’s den.

Black History Week

This week we have further celebrated our diverse and unique global family through Black History Week.

Y1 have celebrated our Nigerian families and learnt about traditional Nigerian cultural masks. Look at the skills involved in their work in progress. Year 2 are learning about the one and only Muhammed Ali and have even tried to match his skipping skills!

Creating a Buzz for Nepal

The St John’s children learnt about the bee farmers in Nepal who had been effected by the Earthquake in 2015.

The children had the opportunity to showcase their individual creativity by decorating donation envelopes.

The St John’s families showed their support by using the envelopes to donate money to the St Albans Diocese Creating a Buzz for Nepal appeal.
